Socratic discussions and self-paced challenges at Pioneer Acton Academy equip children to be independent lifelong learners.
Hands-on "Quests" in entrepreneurship, civics, history, the arts, science, engineering, and other life skills prepare children for real-world challenges.
The "Hero’s Journey," relational covenants, and real-world consequences transform difficult decisions into virtuous habits.
1. Begin a hero's journey
2. Learn to be a curious, independent, lifelong learner.
3. Develop a deep respect for economic, political, and religious freedoms, and the inherent and unalienable rights that all individuals possess.
4. Cherish the arts, wonders of the physical world and the mysteries of life on Earth.
5. Discover his or her most precious gifts and learn to use them to solve difficult problems and find joy.
At Pioneer Acton Academy, we will provide learners with opportunities to understand America's wonderful history and its importance. Students will come to independently recognize that liberty and the respect of individual rights as described in the Declaration of Independence helped to create a country unlike any other in the history of the world, and that the ideas upon which it was founded are more important today than ever.
Pioneer Academy strives to enable students to develop entrepreneurial skills that are crucial for success in the 21st century. Students will have the unique opportunity to practice their newly acquired entrepreneurial skills by participating in children's business fairs!
Join us for our second "holiday-themed" Business Fair on December 7, 2024 in Richfield. It is open to the public and free for children to participate! For more information, visit www.childrensbusinessfair.org/richfield-ohio
Sending your child to Pioneer Acton Academy means that they’ll be developing skills that can’t be easily quantified — things like self-management, self-governance, character, high-level communication skills, learning how to learn and taking opportunities to dive deeply into areas of their greatest passions and gifts.
Badges (rather than traditional grades or report cards) are a way to showcase this work. It is their most important function.
Additionally, badges at Acton allow us to translate accomplishments into a traditional transcript so that our learners can compete with their peers in “college prep” environments if they so choose.
Courage to Grow is the story of how a small school in Austin, Texas sparked a worldwide awakening of families who believe every child deserves to find a calling that will change the world.
Word of Acton's transformative impact is spreading, family by family. Hundreds of Acton Academy affiliates span the globe, with applications pending from more than 6,300 entrepreneurial parents who want to start a learner-driven community.
Courage to Grow is not a "how to" book, but a fast-paced story of courageous families who found more compelling ways to learn and grow. Along the way, parents and children discovered the questions, tools and frameworks we all need to forge a stronger character and supercharge human potential.
Like all good tales, Courage to Grow has a surprise ending, a final lesson you won't want to miss about parenting and the courage required to live life to its fullest.
“We had escaped the trap of obsessing about homework, PTA policies, and grades on tests. Like freeing birds from cages, we were loosening our grip on our children and they were learning to fly.”
— Laura Sandefer
IALDS champions the notion that, while core subjects such as mathematics, science, history and language arts supported by the Common Core Standards and other regulatory and advisory bodies are of the utmost importance to traditional educators, we believe these subjects can be supplemented through other means to enhance critical thinking and promote 21st Century Skills.
IALDS supports most Common Core Standards but also advocates private schools that go beyond such measures in STEM and other specializations, providing the appropriate scaffolding from early learning to secondary education. We believe in empowering students to reach their full potential by providing equal access to all necessary resources, but leaving the chosen modality to the discretion of each individual institution.
Like all educational institutions, IALDS seeks to protect its member schools from unnecessary regulation and bureaucracy, while making concerted efforts to not inundate or create burdensome jargon for educators.
IALDS is honored to have granted accreditation to innovative schools serving gifted students in over twenty countries, helping leading institutions make learning more fulfilling for students, more efficient for educators, and more beneficial for the world.
We are currently conducting enrollment auditions for students and their families. If interested, please contact us and provide us with some information about you and your child.
